We often have the notion that poets are a group of romantic people. Let's see what they say about kisses:

...Shelly...
Soul meets soul on lovers lips

...Browning...
What of soul was left
I wonder, when the kissing
had to stop?

...Keats...
You are always anew
The last of your kisses was ever the sweetest

...Frost...
Love at the lips was touch
As sweet as I could bear

...Sexton...
Being kissed on the back of the knee
is a moth at the windowscreen

...Cummings...
To be thy lips
is a sweet thing and small

...Thomson...
Lips only sing when
they cannot kiss

...Song of Solomon...
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth...
Thy lips, my spouse, drop as the honeycomb:
honey and milk are under thy tongue

And I say forget about courtesy when it comes to kissing. Asking for permission is clumsy and stupid. Just do IT.
